News - Businesses driven to help cut road deathsSafer Driving SeminarIn spite of the growth of speed cameras, those roadside objects that drivers love to hate, road deaths caused by speeding continue to rise at an alarming rate, according to a firm campaigning for greater safety. Canterbury-based computer specialist company ADM Computing has teamed up with the Kent and Medway Camera Safety Partnership, Kent Police and Kent County Council Highway Services Road Safety to promote a free road safety seminar aimed at business drivers. ADM says that speed played a significant part in the 3,200 deaths that occurred on British roads last year, and the seminar will focus on the consequences of speeding. The firm’s own drivers are out and about Kent everyday and ADM says it is concerned for their safety and that of the wider community. Company director Linda Sinclair said “With today’s alarming statistics and road deaths generally on the increase, speeding is a subject that must be addressed. This is a perfect opportunity for local businesses to take some responsible steps in ensuring their drivers are aware of the risks when speeding or using a mobile phone whilst driving. By hosting this seminar we are not only educating others, we are doing something productive which minimises the risk to our own drivers.” |
