History of ADM Computing
If the timeline fails to load correctly, please refresh the page.
1984 - Present
In the year 1984, ADM Computing was established by current Managing Director, Adrian Bryant, and his two partners, David and Martin. Starting life as a computer repair, supplies and services company in Concorde House.
In 1985, we moved to Lower Bridge Street, Canterbury. Even today, you will still see some of the individuals pictured here, making their way around the ADM offices!
By 1990, ADM Computing was solely owned by Adrian Bryant. With 20+ members of staff, ADM had a minor rebranding and expanded their offices to next door in Lower Bridge Street. Still primarily dealing with the sale and repairs of office equipment, the world of IT and technology began to change.
1997 marked a very important year for ADM Computing. We moved to our current offices in Chaucer Road which the vast majority of you will recognise as ‘the’ ADM offices. This has been our home ever since then, but who knows what the future may hold…
We have always been great advocates for the environment and going green in the workplace. In 1999, ADM Computing were sponsors of Kent Wildlife Trust – leading us to receive an invite and the honour of meeting the wonderful Sir David Attenborough when he officiated at Sandwich and Pegwell Bay when it was declared a National Nature Reserve!
In 2006 we sponsored one of the projects that is closest to us – The Gambian market garden. What started with a sponsored well in the village of Lamin Jawara Gambia farm, developed into a long-standing relationship. We have been fortunate enough to visit the wonderful village and continue to assist them with the likes of protective fences and clothing donations over the years. We were even lucky enough to see the head of the village visit our offices in Canterbury on occasions.
By 2010 – ADM Computing had been around for over 25 years and we had firmly established ourselves as a leading IT Service Provider within the South-East of the United Kingdom. By this point in time, we had over 40 members of staff within the business, 20 of which are still with us today!
Prior to 2012, ADM Computing were proud recipients of numerous Environmental Awards relating to Community Relations, Community Involvement, Sustainability and more. In 2012 we decided to take things one step further and launched ADM Solar, a side project of Managing Director Adrian Bryant. Over the 2 years ADM Solar was active, it saw the installation of solar panels throughout the South-East of England, starting with our very own offices. We were even able to send out some solar panels to The Gambia as part of our ongoing efforts there.
In 2019 we entered ourselves into the prestigious KEiBA (Kent Excellence in Business Awards) for the Customer Service Awards category. After a wonderful evening, we were crowned runner-ups for Customer Service, falling just short of the wonderful Sleeping Giant Media. Watch out Sleeping Giant, we’ll be back!
With the world embracing remote working and more people than ever feeling isolated, a much needed spotlight shined on the importance of wellbeing and mental health. At ADM, things were no different and we were quick to get to work on ensuring all our staff were supported in these difficult times and had the necessary resources readily available to them. Further more, ADM also put a focus on supported other businesses in our network during these difficult times, partnering with Medway to host a public webinar on the subject. Towards the end of 2021, we were recognised by South Kent Mind and announced as winners of the Kent Mental Health & Wellbeing Awards.
In late 2020, ADM signed up for the Kent and Medway Healthy Workplaces programme and we set ourselves the target of achieving the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards within a year. We are proud to announce that just over one year on, we have now been awarded the Kent & Medway Workplace Wellbeing Platinum Award – the highest tier available! 🎉
As part of ADM’s ongoing climate initiatives, we partnered with Ecologi, who provide a platform that makes supporting climate positive projects easy for both individuals and businesses. Ecologi provide an excellent amount of transparency into their opeations – giving organisations peace of mind that their contributions are going to right place. To check out the projects ADM have been supporting through Ecologi – visit our Ecologi page: https://ecologi.com/admcomputing
We’re delighted to announce our success this year at the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce business awards, where we were announced as winners in the “Excellence in Customer Service 2022” Category. As a company heavily involved in customer service and support, there really is no higher praise!
We are proud to announce that we have officially become an accredited Real Living Wage employer!
Being an accredited Real Living Wage employer means that we have committed to paying all of our employees a wage that is reflective of the actual cost of living, as determined by the Living Wage Foundation. This is in contrast to the government-mandated minimum wage, which is often not enough for workers to meet their basic needs.
We believe that all employees deserve to be paid a wage that allows them to live with dignity and security, and we are committed to doing our part to ensure that this is the case for everyone who works with us.
We understand that becoming an accredited Real Living Wage employer is not only the right thing to do, but it is also good for business. When employees are paid a fair wage, they are more motivated, productive, and engaged.
We are excited to be part of a growing movement of employers who are committed to paying their employees a Real Living Wage. We believe that this is an important step towards creating a more just and equitable society for all.
ADM Computing was awarded Backup Partner of the Year at the prestigious Sunborn 2023 Partner and Distributor Awards.
As a leading IT service company specialising in cybersecurity and best valued support & infrastructure solutions for businesses, we understand the critical importance of robust cybersecurity measures in today’s increasingly digital world. Our collaboration with the Eastern Cyber Resilience Centre emphasises our dedication to not just safeguarding our clients, but also empowering businesses across the South East of England with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves against evolving cyber threats.
With more than 75 members of staff supporting over 10,000 end users, we’re excited to see what the next 40 years holds for us.
