Since its beginnings in the mid-1950’s this client has become one of the leading fabricators within the infrastructure industry, specialising in manufacturing and installing steel bridges and gantries. From their purpose-built site near Folkestone, Kent they fabricate and install structures ranging from 5 metres to over 100 metres.
Their aging infrastructure had served them well, but was now starting to show its age. Some of the applications that it hosted were suffering from the underlying equipment being unreliable. With the key software package being the accounts platform, this was causing concern within the management team.
ADM were initially approached for advice on how to implement the government backed BIM (Building Information Modelling) initiative, which enables construction companies to collaborate in the Cloud to work jointly on projects.
The client was looking for a company to guide them through a complete end-to-end solution. Since they have no internal IT staff and no plans to recruit any, any IT firm who installed a solution needed to provide support on an ongoing basis.
After a number of conversations between the management and the ADM team regarding whether in-cloud or on-premise would suit their business, they opted for having their IT equipment on site and bought one of ADM’s packaged solutions. This decision was due to the location and the dynamics of their business and how their existing accounts application was best positioned.
